Starting a book

I have walked around the yard of my house with a cappuccino, putting off as long as I can starting to actually write something substantive about portfolio design. Two colleagues and I have a contract for a textbook. Having spend the better part of the summer collecting, photographing and making notes on portfolios from talented students from around the region, it is a daunting task now to put it together into a form that will be helpful to students embarking on the portfolio process. I used to think the life of a writer would be idyllic—luxurious days spent on patio with typewriter and my own thoughts. I did not anticipate agonizing over what to write.

But I have the outline, I have some interviews and promises of upcoming ones. I don't feel I can put the outline or drafts up in a public forum yet, but if anyone would like to discuss portfolio issues, I am more than happy to interrupt my writing to correspond.
